An ecumenical service was held before the national holiday on August 20 in Budapest, in the Szilágyi Dezső Square Reformed Church.

The event was made possible thanks to the sacrificial work of the Ecumenical Council of Hungarian Churches (MEÖT). The president–bishop of the Evangelical Church of Hungary, Tamás Fabiny, highlighted the duality of the holiday, referring to the church and national unity in his speech.

Péter Kondor, the bishop of the Southern Church District of the Evangelical Church of Hungary, spoke about the importance of working together for peace in the sermon, for which the President of Hungary Katalin Novák, Member of the Parliament Imre Vejkey, leader of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group and Dr. György Bakondi, Chairman Emeritus of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group Foundation prayed together with others.
