MÁÉRT – 2022. Hungarian National Prayer Breakfast

"We recognize the role of Christianity in preserving the nation. We appreciate the different religions of our country traditions"

Before the meeting of the Hungarian Standing Conference (HSC; Magyar Állandó Értekezlet; MÁÉRT) and the Diaspora Council, on November 18, 2022, the MÁÉRT - 2022 Hungarian National Prayer Breakfast was held for the first time.

The event for nearly 80 people was organized by the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group Foundation, and its participants were members of the Hungarian Diaspora Council, members of the Hungarian Standing Conference and members of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group. In the presidency, Dr. Márta Mátrai, House Speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Bence Rétvári, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior, Dr. György Bakondi, Emeritus Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group Foundation, Dr. Imre Vejkey, Head of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group, Dr. György Urkuti, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group Foundation and Mónika Bartos, a member of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group, took their seats.

The outstanding significance of the event was given by the fact that it was the first Hungarian National Prayer Breakfast that focused on Hungarians. It was attended by representatives of the Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin, on the one hand, and representatives of Hungarians outside the entire Carpathian Basin, on the other hand. Accordingly, the guiding principles of the event were the unity of the nation, the preservation of our Christian identity and its power to hold the nation together.
