The delegation of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group visited Berlin

The Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group was honored to be invited in the meeting in Berlin and participated with a delegation of four between May 11-13 2023, which is an extremely important and outstanding event in the life of the international prayer breakfasts, and is also a significant stage in the relationship building of the prayer group.

The members of the Hungarian delegation were: President Dr. György Urkuti, Secretary General Dr. Tamás Turgyán, Member of the Board of Trustees Dr. Ilona Katalin Tóth, and Member of the Prayer Group Mr. László Teleki. As a prelude to the invitation, the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group welcomed Mr. Volkmar Klein, a member of the Bundestag in Budapest in the context of a friendly conversation, who previously held the position of president of the Berlin Prayer Group.

The main theme of the Berlin event was the issue of "Responsibility before God and man", which, through joint prayers and conversations, aimed to draw attention to the fact that, even in this particularly troubled period, mutual responsibility and Christian togetherness are of outstanding importance. After the arrival on May 11, the official opening of the event took place, at which the main organizers of the event and the deputy spokesperson of the Bundestag greeted the attendees. On May 12, the event continued with round table discussions, which were divided into four sections based on the geographical location of the participating countries and the topics to be discussed. On behalf of the Hungarian delegation, Dr. György Urkuti explained the role and main objectives of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group, and represented the solid and committed values of Christian communities in Hungary.

The participants shared the most important message of the Berlin gathering and their personal experiences at the prayer breakfast of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group. As an important experience of the event, in the future there will be more international trips, as well as domestically organized international prayer breakfasts, the purpose of which is to strengthen Christian values and spirituality among the faithful. As one of the first steps in this, at the invitation of the National Pastoral Institute, Father Jim Blount, who is visiting our country at Pentecost, will pray together with the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group.
