Joint prayer before the Forum of Hungarian Representatives of the Carpathian Basin in the Parliament

On May 19, 2023, the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group organized a parliamentary prayer breakfast for the first time with the joint participation of prayer group members and Hungarian representatives from the Carpathian Basin.

Imre Vejkey, the leader of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group, shared his thoughts about King St. Stephen, who a thousand years ago recommended the newly born country to the grace of the Virgin Mary, and thus laid the foundations of Christian Hungary that still stand firm to this day.

As he said, life sprouts from strong true Christian faith to this day. After that, he thanked for the first joint plenary session and also for the third papal visit.

His speech was followed by the celebratory greetings of the Speaker of the Parliament Márta Mátrai, who expressed special thanks for the organization of the event and for the foreign representatives who attended.

At the festive event, several members of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group - including Emeritus Chair of the Board of Trustees President Dr. György Bakondi, Chair of the Board of Trustees Dr. Ilona Katalin Tóth, prayer group member Zsolt Nyitrai, and prayer group member Gábor Móczár - also spoke. Emeritus Chair Dr. György Bakondi spoke about the importance of faith and national consciousness that builds togetherness, which is one of the pillars of Hungarian history and Christian values. As he highlighted in his speech, it is the common task of all of us, as the emissaries of the Lord, to convey the living faith as apostles to all members of the Hungarian nation, with which we can further strengthen our belonging to Christ. The full text of the speeches of the speakers at the meeting is available next to the article published here.

The light of the event was further enhanced by the performance of Sándor Sasvári, Jászai Mari-award winning and EMeRTon prize-winning Hungarian actor.
