The Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group met with a five-person Christian delegation from the United States on November 2, 2023.

On the Hungarian side, the leader of the prayer group, Imre Vejkey, greeted the delegation visiting Hungary. In his introduction, he described the history and main objectives of the prayer group, which include, among other things, supporting the establishment of further domestic prayer groups and representing Christian values regardless of party. Dr. György Bakondi, Emeritus Chair of the Board of Trustees, gave an account of his personal good experiences in the United States. Evaluating the current political situation of Hungary and Europe, he said that there is a greater need than ever to protect the solid Christian value system, which threatens the entire Christian world order. He added that our country, based on its historical experience, can set a good example for other countries in the fight against violent oppression and for freedom.

The head of the United States delegation, Mr. Robert Moynihan, presented their work as the founder and head of the Urbi et Orbi Communications. As he said, their organization has been striving for more than 30 years to build the unity of the Church and the faith of individuals, both spoken and in writing (by publishing more than 300 Inside the Vatican magazines), as well as through joint projects and pilgrimages. Through their work, they built friendships that span Europe and even the whole world. They also supported the meetings of all the Orthodox and Catholic bishops of Europe. During their pilgrimages, they reached Russia, Ukraine, Istanbul, Italy, Ireland, Germany and England, where they built a strong network.

The friendly meeting ended with a joint prayer of the Rosary in memory of All Saints' and All Soul’s Day and for the protection of Christianity, which the parties prayed together in their own native languages.
