On November 28, 2023, the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group held its 144th prayer breakfast.

In the introduction to the prayer breakfast, Imre Vejkey, the leader of the prayer group, shared with the participants the story of the prophet Daniel, who - deciphering the dream of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar - warned of the coming of the Messiah and the signs that preceded it. He stated that the warning signs preceding the coming of the Lord and the beginning of His eternal kingdom - no matter how terrifying they may be - resonate with the teaching of the Gospel of Luke (Lk. 21.5-11) about the end times. According to the Scriptures, in these troubled times, many will try to mislead people in the name of Jesus. Our task, however, is to profess our faith, bear witness to it and, despite the terrifying signs, wait patiently and prepared for the coming of the Lord. The leader of the prayer group added that in Europe, which has gone astray morally, our task is to guard the light of the lamp of faith as a Christian country, showing the way to those living in the dark.

Dr. György Bakondi, Chair Emeritus of the Board of Trustees, stated that the church has been constantly attacked since its foundation. As he said these attacks failed one after the other, as the church still stands on solid foundations. In centuries of struggles the church managed to preserve the core Christian values that still mark the right path to us and to the future generations as well.

According to Péter Weisz, President of the Gyöngyös Jewish Community, Hungary has a special role in preserving the basic values of Christianity. As he said, King Saint Stephen already laid the foundations for this, which is evidenced by the Admonitions (Admonitiones) he wrote to his son, Duke Imre. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of dialogue between the Jewish and Christian Hungarian communities.
Antal Kiss spoke about the importance of the Christian holiday before Advent, the Feast of Christ the King, which – similar to the biblical prophecies and evangelical teachings given at the prayer morning – predicts the final coming of the Lord.
