On February 16, 2024, a delegation of four from the The Gideons visited the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group.
The international organization was established 125 years ago in the United States with the aim of spreading the Holy Scriptures and its teachings as widely as possible, thereby helping the knowledge and acceptance of Christian values worldwide.
In their introduction, the members of the delegation said that the organization, among other things, places Holy Bibles in hotels, schools, military and law enforcement organizations, as well as in prison facilities, which anyone can read freely. To date, more than 2.5 billion copies have been distributed, translated into 127 languages of the world.
On behalf of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group, Imre Vejkey, the leader of the prayer group, greeted the guests, and then the meeting began with a joint prayer. In his introduction, Mr. Vejkey, together with Dr. György Bakondi, Chair Emeritus of the Board of Trustees, explained the short history of the establishment of the foundation, the day-to-day operation of the organization, and its most important objectives. The prayer group was happy and open about possible cooperation with The Gideons. Dr. Katalin Tóth, Chair of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group Foundation, expressed her great appreciation for the Christian service performed by The Gideons in her welcome speech.
After the introduction, Imre Vejkey gave the delegation a brief tour of the prayer group's parliamentary prayer room, where he shared some memorable moments of the foundation's history. The meeting ended with a joint prayer.
