179th Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast

On September 23, 2025, the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group held its 179th prayer breakfast, which was also the first of the fall session.

Imre Vejkey, the leader of the prayer group, quoted the daily Gospel, which said that those who truly belong to Jesus are those who listen to God's word and put it into practice.

"Jesus was teaching in a house when his mother and relatives came to see him, but they could not get in because of the crowd. Then they told him, 'Your mother and relatives are standing outside and want to see you.' But he replied, 'My mother and relatives are those who hear the word of God and put it into practice!'" (Luke 8:19-21)

Reflecting on the teaching of Scripture, he emphasized the main message of the Gospel, which is that Jesus Christ invites us into his family, not on the basis of blood ties, but on the basis of his love for us. He invites us to truly live, so that He may live in us, to fight with heart and soul for the truth of the Gospel, which leads to His kingdom. He calls us to be His brothers and sisters, gaining the status of adopted children.

This passage teaches us that Jesus does not define his true family on a biological basis, but rather on the basis of who listens to God's word and who acts on it. So let us ask ourselves the question: do I belong to his family? If so, then I am on the right path. If not, then I have not yet understood that the kingdom of God is not just an abstract concept, but a reality that lives in our hearts and is already being realized in our lives if we humbly accept the Word and act according to it.
