At 12 noon on December 8, 2025, the Bethlehem Peace Flame arrived at the Parliament Building.

During the Advent season, the flame lit in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem has been carried around the world by scouts for nearly forty years because they believe it is important that this symbol of hope for peace reach as many places as possible: our congregations, parishes, communities, and homes.

For decades, Hungarian scouts have been bringing this flame from Bethlehem to the Parliament Building, where this year they were welcomed by János Latorcai, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, and Imre Vejkey, leader of the Hungarian Parliamentary Prayer Group, next to the Prayer Group's prayer room in the Parliament's Dome Hall.
The flame of Bethlehem is a light that starts from a tiny candle flame, yet is capable of illuminating countries, nations, and even the hearts of many people.

This flame is not only a symbol but also a bearer of the message we received in Bethlehem more than two thousand years ago: Jesus gives us his peace, not as the world gives it, but as only God can give it. We have received a peace that does not depend on the uncertainty of circumstances, but is permeated by the constancy of divine love.

The flame of Bethlehem reminds us all that our lives can only be fruitful if our decisions are accompanied by inner clarity, humanity, and responsibility.
